All about the xBox. I get it on a regular basis. I have CoD4 CoDWaW GH3 and GHM at the moment. I'm going on right now, until 11. If you got a 360, find me! Ask me for my gamer tag on this page. Note: It's my friends account! Razz

Very Happy (only played for 2 hours) and xbox live is still down, oh and the Gauss Rifle is the only thing i am using off of operation anchorage, so pretty much i paid 800 ms points for a Gauss rifle... look at this, someone is thinking fear 3 is gonna be like this:

Livingshadow2009 (16 hours ago) I think F.E.A.R 3 is going to be something like this; Alma's son or daughter is going to try and free her mother (maybe Becket to if he's still alive). She's going to do this by using her older brother (Point man in F.E.A.R 1).

That's why the PC version of Fallout 3 is superior. I acquired all three expansions by morally corrupt means for $0.

Also, when it comes to modern survival-horror games, they just aren't damn scary anymore, because they've lost the "survival" aspect. Sure, they can have zombies and demonic shit jump at you from the dark, but that's not scary. What's scary is being alone and lost in the darkened halls of a mansion, and only having enough ammo to [hopefully] kill one of the two zombies that just lurched around the corner. And if you think you can run through them, you better be quick because damn, you've got no herbs left and your health is at critical.

What's even worse is having no weapon, save for a rusty pipe, and you've got two zombie dogs hunting your ass while you're making your way through an abandonded mineshaft. And that's just the first level.

If you ask me, horror games aren't supposed to just be about creeping the player out with blood and dark hallways and all sorts of monstrosities, they're about making the player fear for their survival. You know your survival-horror game is good when the player appreciates and carefully rations every ammo clip he picks up, and every healing item he gets is saved only for the most dire of situations. You know your survival-horror game is good when the sight of even just three enemies is enough to make somebody panic, and walking into an empty room is one the greatest reliefs you'll experience.

But! There's also some horror games which don't exactly fall under "survival". We've also seen a lot of what I call "psychological" horror games, and it seems that this is sort of what most modern horrors fall under (I say that because they rely "scare tactics" like enemies jumping out, as I mentioned). In my opinion, pyschological horrors don't really create as much panic and terror as survivals, but they're still very interesting games. I haven't had the fortune of playing Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requim, but from what I gather it's one of the most mind-fuckiest games in existence.

[/rant]

Okay, I know it sounds like I hate horror games now, but I actually still enjoy them! I played the shit out of Bioshock, and Dead Space is still one of my favourite current-gen games. Some of my favourite PC games are also really unknown ones, like S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, Pathologic, and Penumbra: Overture.

Yeah, I'd say that F.E.A.R. and Bioshock feel a bit similar, but they're also both designed as horror FPS games, so they both have a haunting atmosphere to them.

Also, don't forget that Bioshock takes place in the 60's, which accounts for the older weapons.
